History of Luton Hoo Estate
Luton Hoo Estate, located on the Bedfordshire–Hertfordshire border, is a grand 18th‑century mansion set within 1,000 acres of landscaped parkland designed by Capability Brown. Known today as a luxury hotel and spa, the estate has a long history of aristocratic ownership, royal visits, and military use — including as a base for Eastern Command during WWII.
Its stately façade, formal gardens, and sweeping lawns make it one of the UK’s most cinematic country houses, frequently used in film and television.
